The airspace is still closed due to the continued shooting at incoming aircraft. Gangs now control 80% of the capital. Over 700,000 Haitians are internally displaced, and more than half are children. UN estimated that “children make up about half of all armed gang members.” The situation is devastating.
Currently, the gangs are working together in an attempt to overtake the capital. Our Haiti director, Daniel, was in Port-au-Prince handling important paperwork for our school when gunfire erupted around his location, cutting off all exit routes. We took immediate action and were able to coordinate a helicopter evacuation for him. WATCH NOW.
Welcome, First Grade!
Impact International Institute of Haiti is now in our second year! We launched last September 2023 with three preschool grades. This school year, we added a FIRST GRADE CLASSROOM! We renovated a new classroom, expanded our school courtyard, and hired more staff just in time for the upcoming school year starting October 1st, 2024! This year, we will be investing in 48 students with education and nutrition every single day! We now employ 17 staff members to make sure our students are receiving quality education.
School is in session!
The first day of Impact International Institute of Haiti was on Monday, September 11th, 2023! We are starting with three Preschool classes in a temporary location in Fond Doux as we work on building on our land. We are here to create a place of refuge and safe haven for the children in a time of great tension and insecurity in Haiti.
