This Scholarship Program was established in 2014 and we have since given out over 390 scholarships in Haiti. We have raised up high school graduates and university students, including principals, school teachers, nurses, and more that now serve in their communities.

This Scholarship Program was created in response to the lack of access to education in Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. Haiti’s literacy rate is one of the lowest in the world, only about 61% of the adults can read and write. Around 50% of the children do not attend primary (elementary/middle) school and around 80% never reach secondary (high) school. And the number of students able to attend university is even smaller. There is no free public education system in Haiti nor any government assistance for the poor. The cost of tuition, uniforms, shoes, and books become a barrier for most families, who live on less than $3 a day. According to the Human Capital Index, a child born today in Haiti will grow up to be only 45 percent as productive as they could be if he or she had enjoyed full access to quality education and healthcare. 

Our scholarships has made education accessible for the children in our village, Fond Doux. And our after-school tutoring program has highly increased the passing rate of our students, who receive no academic support from parents at home. We even held the very first graduation in our village in 2016!
